Staff and pupils are the stars of a hilarious YouTube video showing how they raised nearly £1,200 for Comic Relief. St Ivo’s Academy at St Ives posted their comic fund raiser to celebrate Red Nose Day to their YouTube channel.

Lindsay McAdam, head of dance at St Ivo, took her inspiration from the Barbie film to choreograph and produce a dance routine to ‘Dance the Night’ by Dua Lipa.

Previous renditions by staff have included ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘Shake it Off’.

She said: “It was a lot of fun to do – thank you to all the staff who took part and left their inhibitions outside the dance studio!”

Mr Hammond, who is head of River House, organised a staff versus Sixth Form volleyball match, and enjoyed by hundreds of onlooking students down in the Rec Centre. The match result was close, with the staff team just taking the win at the very end.

Principal Tony Meneaugh said: “All in all it's been a fantastic day full of fun and most importantly, raising lots of money for Comic Relief.

Ms Hart, head of Leger House, led a ‘guess the masked teacher’ competition.

Teachers dressed in costumes from head to toe to keep their identities secret. As they toured the school at break time, students could guess who they were; winning results were revealed to the students after the weekend.

Mrs Jarah from Bridge House organised the bake sale for all of the school to buy sweet treats. Thank you to all the staff and students who contributed their baked goods.

The school also held a non-uniform day where students donated £1 to wear their own clothes to school.

Principal Tony Meneaugh said: “All in all it’s been a fantastic day full of fun and most importantly, raising lots of money for Comic Relief.

“Funds currently stand at £1,190 which is so generous of everyone who took part. Thank you so much to everybody for raising such an incredible amount of money.”
