St Ives Cambridgeshire hopes to escape homes being flooded

Environment Agency says the forecast is for further rainfall this evening, and into Friday

St Ives continues to hold its breath that despite heavy rainfall following Storm Henk it may escape homes being flooded. Across the town some have reported difficulties in driving because of flooded roads but the Environment Agency reports today that river levels are being to drop “but remain responsible to further rainfall”.

The EA says: “Flooding is expected. Areas most at risk are around the River Great Ouse from Brampton to Earith, including Back Brook, Hall Green Brook, Parsons Drove Drain, Swavesey Drain and Wadsbys Folly.

“Access to properties in Berry Lane, Godmanchester may also be affected.”

The EA says the forecast is for further rainfall this evening, and into Friday.

“River levels will react again,” it warns.

Fresh update will be issued this evening.

It has issued a flood alert area:

River Great Ouse from Brampton to Earith, including Back Brook, Hall Green Brook, Parsons Drove Drain, Swavesey Drain and Wadsbys Folly.
