Key Theatre Peterborough commissions 50th anniversary Nathan Murdoch mural

Celebrations last year to mark the 50th anniversary of the Key Theatre, Peterborough, have spilled over into 2024 with the commissioning by Landmark Theatres of a new mural by street artist Nathan Murdoch.

Nearing completion the mural is already attracting praise from passers-by, many taking to social media to express support.

“We are so lucky to have you making such a beautiful difference to or city,” said one post on Facebook.

Another wrote: “I walk past the Key to go to work and this mural makes my trip so much nicer.”

The theatre opened in November 1973 and last year’s celebrations included a special video tribute from panto cast and crew.

A theatre spokesperson said: “Thank you to everyone who has ever attended a show or visited the Key Theatre throughout the years!
