Man, 30, needs hospital treatment after stabbing in Wisbech

Blood ebbed from the steps found a pub and behind it following a stabbing in Wisbech on Friday night. Even the pavement cellar hatch oozed blood as Cambridgeshire Police continued to investigate what happened outside The Globe public house in the town centre.

Throughout the day the pub, neighouring café/restaurant Terrys, a newsagent around the corner and even a nearby tanning shop closed for the day as a large area in and around the market area was taped off by police.

Throughout the day police came and went from the area, together with forensic experts, as they tried to piece together the events of last night.

In a later statement, Cambridgeshire said that a 30-year -old man was the victim of a stabbing in Wisbech on Friday night. The man was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Police say they were called at 8.50pm “with reports of violence involving two men in Market Place, Wisbech”. Anyone with information is urged to contact police via their web chat service or online forms at www.cambs.police.uk/report quoting 35/71345/23. Anyone without internet access should call 101

Forensic evidence will be vital to determine charges should a suspect have been identified, or is identified, following police inquiries.

An extensive cordon was placed around the Globe in Market Place and the tape was extended to include sealing off a neighbouring café and a newsagent.

Access to the rear of the properties through Little Church Street was also blocked and police officers are in the area advising residents of the closures.

Police were also spotted examining a car in Little Church Street and to the rear of the Globe.
