‘Leeds Four’ charged over lorry break-ins at Cambridge services

The four suspects were arrested on Grantchester Road, Coton, Cambridge.

Four men – all from 150 miles away – have been charged following the break-ins of more than 20 lorries at Cambridge services. The four men were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, spent the day and night in custody, and today made their first court appearance.

Police were called to Cambridge Services in Boxworth, at junction 24A of the A14 and close to the M11 just after 1am yesterday (4 October).

The four suspects were later arrested on Grantchester Road, Coton, Cambridge.

Amar Butt, 21, of Middleton Crescent, Leeds, has been charged with 20 counts of vehicle interference and one count of going equipped.

Abbas Hussain, 30, of Greenmount Street, Leeds, has been charged with 20 counts of vehicle interference and one count of going equipped.

Shane Ali, 30, of Dewsbury Road, Leeds, has been charged with 20 counts of vehicle interference and one count of going equipped.

Imraz Fazal, 36, of Dewsbury Road, Leeds, has been charged with 20 counts of vehicle interference, one count of going equipped and one count of failing to stop.

They are appearing before Huntingdon magistrates’ today.
