A woman who repeatedly breached a court order and stole from shops in Wisbech was jailed for six months. Jordan Palmer, 31, was arrested on 1 May by police who spotted her in Little Church Street, Wisbech, after recognising her as being wanted in connection with several incidents of shoplifting in the town and failing to appear in court.

Palmer, who has a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning her from certain stores in Wisbech and March, was due to appear in court on 26 April after being charged with a theft from Tesco Extra in Cromwell Road on 13 March – the same day she was handed a 26-week suspended prison sentence for seven counts of theft from a shop and four breaches of the CBO.

On Thursday (2 May) she was charged with six offences:

  • Theft of food and cleaning items of an unknown value from Farmfoods, Sandown Road, Wisbech, on 30 March
  • Theft of alcohol worth £191 from Tesco Extra, Cromwell Road, Wisbech, on 5 April
  • Theft of a power bank worth £30 from Tesco Extra, Cromwell Road, Wisbech, on 5 April
  • Theft of food and cleaning items of an unknown value from B&M, Cromwell Retail Park, Wisbech, on 16 April
  • Breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) by entering Boots, Horsefair Shopping Centre, Wisbech, on 18 April
  • Theft of frozen salmon of an unknown value from Aldi, Sandyland, Wisbech, on 20 April

Palmer, of no fixed address, appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday (3 May) where she admitted all offences and was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, which includes the activation of the previously suspended sentence.

PC Jude Easter, who investigated, said: “Palmer is prolific in her offending and has been given many chances by the courts to turn things around and not be sent to prison, however she has shown complete disregard for that and is now spending the next few months behind bars.

“Since being made the subject of the CBO she has been convicted of 11 breaches. We will continue to enforce the order, and I encourage anyone who sees her breaching it to report it to us.”

Palmer was made subject of the two-year CBO in November last year, which states she must not enter:

  • Any retail stores within Horsefair Shopping Centre, Wisbech
  • Any Asda in Wisbech
  • Any Sainsbury’s in March

Anyone with information about Palmer breaching the CBO should contact police via the online reporting form, web chat service or by calling 101.
