A £50,000 car stolen from the Thames Valley was stopped in Cambridgeshire – and the thief arrested – even before the owner had reported it missing. Police in Huntingdon revealed the arrest today.

“Officers followed the vehicle into Godmanchester and arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a knife,” said the spokesperson in a post of Policing Huntingdonshire on Facebook.

“The vehicle was recovered – all before the owner knew it was missing!”.

The thief won’t be taking up any spare capacity at a Cambridgeshire police station.

“He’s since been passed to our colleagues at Thames Valley Police,” said the post.
