Cambridge: Children arrested for robbery, theft, harassment, threats to kill and knife crime

Arrests made in Abbey ward and Cherry Hinton

Five children were arrested in Cambridge in connection with crimes including robbery and theft. Last Tuesday (16 July) police arrested five children in the Abbey ward and Cherry Hinton areas in connection with more than 20 crimes in Cambridge.

These included robbery, attempted robbery, theft from a shop, criminal damage, harassment, common assault, making threats to kill and possession of a knife.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of shop theft.

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with one count of criminal damage.

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with two counts of shop theft.

They will all appear at Huntingdon Youth Court on 7 August.

A 14-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of three counts of attempted robbery, one count of robbery, two counts of theft and one count of common assault.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery and one count of making threats to kill.

They have all been bailed until 11 October.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of harassment and criminal damage. He was released with no further action.

Three have been charged and will be appearing in court next month and one was released with no further action.

They have stringent bail conditions including excluding them from entering Cambridge city centre, banning them from certain shops and ensuring they are not wearing face coverings in public.
