Police released an aerial photograph of the site on the Norfolk coast where an unexploded World War Two bomb is being disarmed by specialists.

The device, which is surrounded by a sand bank barrier as shown in the photograph, measures about a metre long, weighs 250kg and is unsafe to move in its current state.

Army disposal specialists are working on the next phase of the operation – cutting into the bomb which will continue into the night.

Many residents have been asked to leave their home after the bomb was discovered on Southtown Road, Great Yarmouth, two days ago.

The bomb is said to be about 3ft long and weighs nearly 40 stone.

“There’s a real element of risk” Supt Nathan Clark told the BBC.
