Apologise? Certainly not we’re proud to support Pride say police

Far from apologising to online critics, a police force says sending officers to West Norfolk Pride was to “show support for everyone in our community”.

Their robust reply followed criticism on the King’s Lynn Police Facebook page after posting photos of officers attending West Norfolk Pride.

“Don’t worry – our teams were still responding to 999 and 101 calls as usual,” said a police spokesperson.

“We regularly take part in events like this across west Norfolk as it’s a great way for us to speak to people in our local communities, for us to find out what their concerns are and explain how we keep them safe.

“We want to show support for everyone in our community which is why we are proud to take part in events like King’s Lynn Pride.”

Police had earlier issued the photos as “we want to show a massive thank you to everyone who came to say hi at King’s Lynn Pride on Saturday.

“It was such a brilliant day and amazing to see so many people getting together and having fun.
