Anti-social behaviour, noise complaints, anti-social driving, drug dealing, and intimidation resulted in all bar the tenant being allowed into an Ely house. The closure order following months of anti-social behaviour, said Cambridgeshire police.

No one is permitted to enter except the tenant and emergency services until 4 September 2024.

If anyone is found on the premises unlawfully they render themselves liable for arrest.

The order was issued to 26 Militia Way today (5 June) after a successful application from East Cambridgeshire neighbourhood officers to Peterborough magistrates’ court.

“The action came as a result of frequent reports of anti-social behaviour, noise complaints, anti-social driving, reported drug dealing and intimidation coming from the address,” said a police statement.

“A closure order was granted, and the property will be partially closed for three months.”

PC Joe Dockerill, from the East Cambridgeshire neighbourhood team, said: “Residents living in the surrounding streets of the property have endured no end of misery and intimidation.

“We hope the closure order will provide residents with some respite and allow them and their families to be in their homes without feeling intimidated.

“The partial closure order will allow the tenant to remain living at the address but will prevent those who have been attending to commit anti-social behaviour or other criminal offences.”

The closure order states the house be closed in accordance with the Anti-Social Behaviour and Policing Act 2014.
