WATCH: Success in Cambridgeshire ‘drain the swamp’ drugs operation
A third Cambridgeshire drug dealer has been jailed as part of a major operation by Cambridgeshire police in which £600,000 worth of drugs have been seized, 44 arrests made and 31 people charged.
Latest figures released by Cambridgeshire police show of those charged, there are 139 offences for drugs and 33 drug lines have been dismantled.
A drug dealer from March is the third to be sentenced as part of Operation Hypernova, which was set up to tackle exploitation and illegal drugs in Cambridgeshire.
Police raided William Ferreira’s home in Creek Road on 12 September where they found 112 wraps of crack cocaine, 35 wraps of heroin and around £5,000 in cash.
Police also found his mobile phone containing multiple sent messages to people offering to deliver the ‘best of both’.
Operation Hypernova was carried out in September and October across Cambridgeshire.
It had support from the Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police, and the Eastern Regional Specialist Operation Unit to identify those posing the greatest threat to the community.
In addition to dismantling county lines and large quantities of crack cocaine, heroin, cocaine, cannabis, and finding cash, they also seized thousands of pounds in cash and assets including vehicles, jewellery, and clothing.
Several weapons were also seized.
At Cambridge Crown Court yesterday (30 November), Ferreira, 26, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin and possession of criminal property.
Detective Constable Suzanne Pickard, who investigated, said: “Ferreira was offering to deliver his ‘best of both’ via text message. With those messages and the drugs and cash found we were able to prove Ferreira was operating a county line across the county.”
