Children sought after Wisbech bus shelter vandalised
Bricks were removed from a building site and used to destroy a Wisbech shelter, says a local councillor.
“The shelter was vandalised last night from a hostel that is being renovated in Kirkgate Street,” said Wisbech and Fenland councillor Dave Patrick.
He has emailed police about the incident and urged anyone with CCTV to get in touch.
A police spokesperson said: “A plea to parents.
“We are reaching out to parents and guardians after the bus shelter on Lynn Road in Wisbech was vandalised with bricks.
“It is believed the shelter was vandalised during Saturday night, with bricks taken from a wall in Kirkgate Street which has also been damaged.”
The spokesperson said: “We believe this damage is being carried out by children in their early teens, who are often seen out unsupervised late at night.
“We have increased patrols in the area at peak times to try and identify those responsible – however we are urging parents and carers to make sure they know what their children are doing outside of school.
“Buses are the main mode of transport for many people in our community, and vandalism like this is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
