Cambridgeshire police officer arrested on suspicion of rape

A senior Cambridgeshire police officer has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
Cambridgeshire Police confirmed today that the officer was arrested on July 15.
A police spokesperson said: “A Cambridgeshire officer was arrested on suspicion of rape by Bedfordshire Police on 15 July and has been released on bail while an investigation takes place.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
The officer has not been suspended.
The alleged rape took place in 2021.
