Whittlesey man, 31, arrested after child sex messages ‘sting’
A 31-year-old man from Whittlesey was arrested yesterday on suspicion of engaging in sexual communications with a child.
The man was confronted on a housing estate in the town and challenged by a team from a voluntary online child protection group.
The team – comprising of four members – had travelled to Whittlesey from across the country to challenge the man about the allegations.
Fleetwood Enforcers UK filmed their hour or so long conversation with the man during their doorstep confrontation.
The live stream on Facebook was watched by thousands of people nationwide and concluded when two police officers arrived and took the man into custody.
A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said today: “An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
“The man has been released on bail until 22 April.”
Coincidentally a second online enforcement team from a different group arrived just before the police turned up to detain the suspect.
